Northern NB Trades Scholarship
Program Summary
Opportunity for grade 12 graduates or mature students who are interested in skilled trades and live within one of the rural communities in northern New Brunswick in which we operate.
For this scholarship, northern New Brunswick includes the following counties: Northumberland, Gloucester, Restigouche, Madawaska, Victoria, and Carleton.
Qualifying programs offered at a New Brunswick Community College include:
- Industrial mechanic millwright
- Instrumentation & control technician
- Truck & transport technician
- Heavy duty equipment technician
The scholarship covers full tuition costs, up to a maximum of $5,000 per year. Funding is paid at the beginning of each semester.
It also provides 3-week internships during studies and, upon graduation, offers a secure, full-time apprenticeship role.
If completing a two-year program, renewal is available for satisfactory performance and passing grades.
Application Criteria
- Must be a resident of northern New Brunswick. Applicants can also be a current employee or a dependent (spouse or child) of an employee. If you are an internal applicant, it cannot conflict with current apprenticeship practices within collective agreement.
- Must provide proof of acceptance or enrollment to full-time or part-time studies in an eligible program.
- Must apply for a specific location/site and agree to participate in a paid work term.
- Must provide a copy of your resume and participate in a behavioral assessment and interview process.
- Must be a citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada
