J.D. Irving, Limited Supports Girl Scouts of Maine
Representatives from J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI)'s Irving Forest Products and Irving Woodlands LLC divisions participated in the Girl Scouts of Maine's "Green ME Up" event. Over 700 girls and families were able to attend the event which was held in Freeport, Maine. They took part in hands-on learning activities and heard from environmental and forestry experts on how to help positively impact their local environment.
JDI has sponsored this annual event since 2018. It's a great opportunity to inform and educate youth who have an interest in their local ecosystem. Linda, a scout leader with one of the groups that attended, was happy for the experience.
"I was a girl scout for 12 years and have been a leader for eight years. This is my first time at the Green ME Up event, and it's really interesting to hear everyone's presentations. JDI is a popular booth with the children and they're learning about the different stages of a tree and how our forest products are made. I'm happy we were able to participate."
JDI is dedicated to supporting stakeholders across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Maine with a commitment to sustainable forest management. Learn more here: jdirvingsustainability.com/en/material-topics/sustainable-forest-management/
