May 1st marked the opening of the Irving Nature Park in Saint John and La Dune de Bouctouche in New Brunswick. This year, the Irving Nature Park marked it's pre-opening weekend with the 15th annual Brent Kelly Memorial 5-miler.

Wednesday May 1st 630pm – Free General Tour in Celebration of our 1st Day Open!
Want to learn more about the local critters that call the Irving Nature Park home? Need help identifying some of the plant life that is beginning to emerge? Interested in the different ecosystems that can be found within our 600-acre park?
Well we've got a treat for you! Join an interpreter on Wednesday, May 1st for a FREE guided nature tour along the Squirrel trail.
We will be meeting at the main gates for 630pm! The hike will be roughly 45 minutes in length. We will be hosting rain or shine so please come dressed for the weather!
This is suitable for an audience of all ages!
No registration required!

Sunday May 5th 2pm – Forest Crime Scene Murder Mystery
A crime has been committed at the Irving Nature Park and we need your help to solve it. Join our detective, Theresa, at 2pm at the main gates to help solve this mystery while learning all about native species found within the park. Be prepared to hike the Squirrel Trail to search for clues and solve the mystery!
This tour is suitable to families and children 12 and under.
We will be hosting rain or shine so please come dressed for the weather! No registration required.

Sunday May 12th 2pm – A Celebration of Nature’s Mothers
To celebrate our wonderful mothers, we have a special activity day and hike planned to learn all about animal mothers that call the Irving Nature Park home. After the hike, take part in a special mother matching game, while learning all about how the mothers of the park take care of their babies. We will also have a special nature craft (pinecone bird feeders) planned to reward the winged moms for all their hard work.
Please meet our interpreter at the main gates at 2pm on Sunday, May 12th for a hike through a portion of the Squirrel trail, finishing up at the interpretive shelter for an activity and Mother’s Day craft! Please keep in mind that hands may get messy during this activity, and that there is no running water on site, but paper towel and hand wipes will be provided.

Sunday May 19th 2pm – Monarch Butterfly Magic
Gather the family and meet us at the Sheldon Point trail head for 2pm to learn about the life cycle and migration patterns of the Monarch Butterfly through experiential learning.
Participants will return home with a milkweed plant to help this endangered species.
We will be hosting rain or shine so please come dressed for the weather! No registration required.

Sunday May 26th 2pm – Signs of Spring
Have you ever wondered why animals and plants seem to awaken in the spring? If the answer to this question is yes, join us at the main gates at 2pm for a guided spring tour of the Squirrel trail. Using examples of native species that are found right here in the park, we will learn all about the different processes that make springtime the most productive and busy season for animals and plants!
