Nearly 30 Years of CAN-AM

The woods in our lives are the highlight of amazing winter community activities. The Can-Am Crown International Dogsled Race in Fort Kent, Maine is one of them. Streets close for hundreds of sled dogs who race up to 250 miles through Maine's beautiful North Woods. The whole community comes out - as volunteers and spectators - and our Woodlands team is pleased to welcome everyone to our hospitality tent.

This year marks the 28th year of races! Irving Woodlands, LLC is proud to support the 250-mile race, and award the top 12 finishers. Between the three races, 30-mile, 100-mile, and 250-mile, there were 52 musher and dog teams running from Fort Kent through Allagash, Portage and various other towns in Northern Maine.

Fort Kent is a centre of our Woodlands operations in Maine and the event is a winter favorite for our team.

"The Can-Am Dog Sled race has been a wonderful part of the winter community calendar in Fort Kent for 28 years and Irving Woodlands has been sponsoring the 250-mile race for 15 years. We are proud to sponsor such an event, especially in a community where so many of our employees and contractors reside," says Doug Cyr, Human Resources Manager, Maine.

We would like to thank all of our volunteers, this year, and all previous - you're the ones who make it happen.

About the Can-Am Crown:

The Can-Am Crown organization was founded on October 16, 1992 as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Maine. It was established to provide a mid-distance sled dog race to a growing community of mushers from throughout the international region and to enhance the region's image as a travel destination. The Can-Am Crown 250 has rapidly gained popularity as the longest sled dog race in the eastern United States.
